OOPS!

Wow. I just had to frog Becca's poncho...completely. I misjudged the size of the work. So, had I continued as I was, the poncho would probably have fit (quite nicely) either Paul Bunyan or Babe the Blue Ox; I'm not sure. I will hopefully start it up again this evening so that I can be done with it asap. In the meantime, I just might have to start work on some socks, which I've been itching to do!, and get busy making some venison jerky for my step-son's birthday present. (His choice lol.) For whatever reason, I just can't seem to put my needles down. I might as well go with it because who knows when I'll run out of steam.

D Bag

Okay, so the name sounds a bit silly, but my daughter likes it :-) This is one of my rare attempts at creating something out of my imagination. I have to say that I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. The entire bag was made with Lion Wool using a US 11 circular needle. The straps are I-cords, and instead of doing a flat seam, I did an "X" seam on the bottom. I'm quite sure there's some technical name for it, or technique, but the idea to do this seam, like the entire bag, came out of my head.

I'm not qure sure why the pics didn't post in the order I had wanted them to, but oh well. The bottom left pic is the bag pre-felting, and the other two are post-felting. The "X" seam and sewn-in loopy tapes I did enables the bag to lie nice and tidy when I want it to be, and to open up (for use as a shopping bag?) nice and wide as you can see in the pic on the bottom right. I think it looks a little like a flower basket. I used a variegated wool for the main part, and a solid for the top edging and handles. I wish now I had felted it right after I took the pre-felting pic; the lighting is different and it's kind of hard to see. I'm considering selling the pattern, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that, yet.
So...this is my last UFO; or I guess maybe it's not. While I had D Bag felting in the washing machine, I started a poncho for my youngest daughter. (She asked me so nicely to make her something next.) I'm making it in a pretty tropical blue variegated cotton on US 11 straight needles. I'm not using a pattern, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

What a Gorgeous Day!

And David and I spent part of the day fishing on Four Mile, which is seven miles off of the Kramer Road. I wonder why they didn't just call it Seven Mile? We didn't catch any fish; well, David did have one nibble on his line. David did catch a submerged branch, though...not far from where this tree is lying in the water. He moved it to the side of the lake where he doesn't fish :-) I "caught" a sun burn. The bugs weren't bad and there was a nice breeze. We saw an osprey flying over the lake (there is a next nearby), some deer and a loon. Did I knit today? No...but I thought about it. Just like I thought about what to make for dinner after being on the lake...I ended up nuking some burritos which were horribly unexciting, but they were quick and filling :-) On that happy note...time to wake David up for work.
